Electrical Network Safety

A safer electrical grid starts with you.

From your phone battery to the fryer that prepares your dinner, everything depends on the power grid. It supplies energy to many essential everyday devices and, for that very reason, requires special care. AXIA is constantly working to make the grid safer, but we also rely on your support to ensure our energy reaches everyone safely.

Less vandalism means more safety.

Beyond being a criminal act, vandalizing the power grid creates serious risks not only for the population, but also for those who commit it. That’s why you should never throw or attempt to remove shoes, toys, or any objects from power lines. By doing so, you help prevent short circuits, fires, and blackouts in your community—and protect the people you care about.

When building or renovating, everyone has their own space.

The greater the distance from the power grid, the safer it is. This is especially important when operating heavy machinery like tractors or agricultural equipment. Because of their size and weight, extra care is required when working near power lines, helping prevent damage to the electrical system and potentially fatal accidents.

Fire and electricity: a dangerous combination.

Discussing the environmental risks of illegal fires may seem repetitive, but what many people overlook is that they can cause serious harm not only to nature, but also to the power grid. Beyond endangering the lives of people, animals, and plants, these fires can leave hospitals, schools, businesses, and even homes without power.

Kite flying, a playtime that has its place: far away from power lines.

Flying kites is a symbol of fun, but safety has to be part of it. Kites should only be flown in open spaces like parks or public squares, far from power lines, antennas, telephone wires, and busy roads. Contact with electrical wiring can result in fatal electric shocks. If a kite gets stuck, never try to retrieve it. Hazardous materials such as glass-coated string (cerol), copper, or aluminum foil should never be used.

Releasing hot paper balloons is never a good idea.

They may be beautiful, but a slight change in their course is enough to cause serious accidents. That is why balloon releasing is a crime in Brazil: it can trigger highly destructive fires, put lives at risk, disrupt essential services like hospitals and schools, and even cause aviation accidents.
