Protection of transmission towers in agricultural production areas
How can we innovate to reduce accidents involving large agricultural machinery and high-voltage transmission towers while preserving asset integrity, operator safety, and scalability?
Challenge Overview
We are seeking innovative solutions to protect high-voltage transmission towers located primarily in regions with intensive mechanized agricultural activity. The challenge focuses on preventing accidents and damage caused by the inadvertent interaction of large agricultural equipment operating during planting, cultivation, and harvesting activities.
One mitigation measure currently under consideration is the installation of metallic protective barriers around 765 kV transmission line towers. However, we are looking for additional mechanisms and technologies capable of providing enhanced protection for transmission assets while also safeguarding agricultural machinery and operators.
The proposed solution must ensure the integrity of both AXIA Energia’s transmission infrastructure and farmers’ equipment, enabling productive agricultural activities without compromising the continuity and reliability of electricity transmission services.
By preventing collisions and other accidental interactions between agricultural machinery and transmission structures, the solution should contribute to improved safety, operational efficiency, risk management, and asset preservation for all stakeholders involved.
