How can we co-develop an AI-powered solution to forecast extreme wind gust events up to 72 hours in advance?

 

We are seeking the co-development of a solution capable of forecasting weather events that may generate extreme wind gusts up to 72 hours in advance. The solution should use meteorological data and information from the state of Paraná and surrounding regions, leverage NVIDIA Corporation’s Artificial Intelligence framework, and include the active participation of the SIMEPAR team, the Environmental Technology and Monitoring System of Paraná.

Challenge Overview

Using NVIDIA Corporation’s Artificial Intelligence framework, Earth-2 Studio, we are seeking proposals to develop a solution for forecasting short-term weather events, approximately 12 to 72 hours in advance, that may result in extreme wind gusts.

The solution should identify atmospheric patterns across spatial and temporal scales beyond those typically addressed by nowcasting. The state of Paraná and surrounding regions will serve as the study area and primary data source for the development of the solution.

To support the successful development of the project, the final proposal will include the participation of SIMEPAR, the Environmental Technology and Monitoring System of Paraná.

Proposed Solution

The solution must be based on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics and should apply the atmospheric forecasting, simulation, and visualization modules available within NVIDIA Corporation’s Earth-2 Studio.

The platform provides an open-source framework for building, training, and fine-tuning predictive models, combining causality, physics-based atmospheric simulations, and observed data.

The project will also include collaboration with NVIDIA Corporation to support the effective use of the platform.
